THE HEART
OF CUDO.
Each of our horses and ponies has their own personality, strengths and lessons to teach.
MEET THE HERD
Matching riders thoughtfully with the right horse helps them build confidence, develop feel and progress safely.
Gracie Lou
Sweet, sassy and a diva. Gracie Lou is a favorite among our riders, because she is so easy to groom and tack up: riders can truly do it all with her. Her big, bouncy trot makes her a wonderful teacher for the posting trot. She may be a little bit of a diva, but she has a big heart and loves having a job.

Xena
Calm, opinionated and eager. Xena loves teaching riders the basics and is especially relaxed on the lunge line, a wonderful partner for riders learning to ride independently. Her one strong opinion: her BFF Gracie Lou. If Gracie is out of sight, Xena makes sure everyone knows. She loves Mrs. Pastures cookies, in moderation, since she is watching her figure.
Nacho
Calm, steady and dependable. Nacho is a great teacher for riders learning to trot independently, and especially helpful for a first canter on the lunge line. He takes his job seriously, with one important rule: no treats! He gets a little too enthusiastic about them and can become nippy.

Magic
Kind, bouncy and educated. Magic makes learning to ride well feel a little easier. He knows his job like the back of his hoof and is an excellent teacher for developing feel and a balanced position. His size suits taller riders, and his show-ring experience makes him especially valuable for teaching jumping. He never says no to a Mrs. Pastures cookie.

Karl
Goofy, unflappable and comfortable. Karl is a big, easygoing gentleman, steady as the day is long. He is just as happy teaching an adult their first posting trot as helping a more experienced rider learn to put a horse together. A former dressage horse, he carries himself beautifully when asked. Favorite food? Anything edible.

Skates
Darling, honest and shy. Skates gives riders a taste of riding a real show horse in a safe, supportive setting. She is younger and greener than some of our lesson horses, a great opportunity for riders ready to learn how to train and ride a young horse. With the right lease rider she can jump over 2'3". A little shy about treats, but sweet through and through.
Sonny
Schooled, safe and a step up. Sonny is for the confident rider ready for a little more horse. He is not a push ride: he has his own motor and enjoys a rider ready to put that energy to work. Well educated, he can take the right lease rider into starter-level eventing or the hunters up to 2'3". He loves soaked alfalfa cubes and is very particular about actual horse treats!

Butters
Introverted, cheeky and adorable, with a quiet way about him. Butters is a wonderful teacher for a first canter off the lunge line, and a favorite of our littlest riders: his steady nature and comfortable way of going help young riders find their balance and feel secure in the saddle.
Emmett

Cosmo
Rhythmic, dependable and perfect. Cosmo is one of our very best teachers for young riders: steady, kind and genuinely in love with his job. His rhythm makes him an excellent partner for a first canter, and his dressage background gives him a wonderful sense of balance. He is also a five-star trail horse. Favorite snack? Black banana peels!
